SCH.NEE

Nunzio Impellizzeri Dance Company ©

Nunzio Impellizzeri is a choreographer known for his unique artistic signature, dynamics and strong visual imagery. His work is highly physical, impassioned and characterized by an innovative use of space.

SCH.NEE was created in 2022. I composed and produced the music to the choreography, which explores the presence and absence of noise through the medium of snow.

"This dance performance is not to be missed, fast-paced, intense, fascinating, absorbing, an almost physical experience - even as an audience member!"
★★★★ Kaspar Sannemann - Oper-aktuell

"SCH.NEE" is much more than the absence of sound, it is comparable to the magic of a night walk in the first snow.
★★★★ Thierry Frochaux - PS Zeitung

There is nothing like fishes and snow to better investigate silence, trying to sculpt its forms, its whispering, its laws, and through dance to show those moments when, quoting a reflection by Peter Handke 'the extreme need to communicate, (...) coincides with the extreme inability to speak'.
★★★★ Giuseppe Distefano - Sipario

"...And when the lights go out, and there is darkness, in this absence of light and sound, it becomes apparent how loudly those colors screamed, how intensely the music throbbed, how precisely, sharply, astutely those bodies carved shapes, sculptures and movement into space. In this silence the noise is visceral."

tonhalleLate - Classic meets Electronic

w/ Dam Swindle

The dynamic house duo from Amsterdam joined forces with musicians from the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. James Bond themes and motifs lead through the show.

w/ Mathew Jonson

Canadian legend Mathew Jonson is no stranger to experimentation.
In this collaboration, we discovered new sonic spaces.

w/ Tom Trago

Globe-trotting DJ & producer Tom Trago came by to put on a funky show.
Lots of possibilities for brass players & percussionists to show their skills.

In cooperation with the music education programm at the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, I had the chance to conduct a live show with a children’s orchestra. Some players from the orchestra joined forces with around 40 kids to perform their own version of “Petrushka”.

Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana

In a new interpretation of the classic “Alice in Wonderland” for children, we teamed up with with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana to compose some new scenes. “Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglie” leads us through different rooms in the LAC Lugano, where actors and dancers perform extracts from the tale with live music.
